I talked with Mark at Mason Mountain this morning, the no standby thing is coming from Austin. They're simply trying to reduce the amount of contact/exposure for their employees. He didn't seem to care for it either, but it is what it is.

With all the stuff spewed out of Austin be thankful they are even doing the draw hunts this year, that was on the table to call them off but the likely backlash from entry fees already payed prevented that. They would have refunded preference points and hunt fees though.

So we should be thankful that we're being allowed to use our public lands that belong to us? I get what you're saying, but just pointing out how this slippery slope thing works.

Yeah its BS how restrictive state land can be for bowhunting deer, don't get me started on Richland Creek but hey you can go bird watching out there

A couple day after the deadline for winners to pay the permit fee. So I’d say this Monday or Tuesday.

The deadline to pay for permits is October 25th, so the second draw should be posted on October 26th.

No luck this wonderful morning. Put in 30, got none. But that will all change next year. Since points are cubed, I will put in 1 for each category. I would hate to lose my points on a poor hunt.

My last chance at a couple pending hunts was denied today. I’m now in double digits in most categories. I havnt been drawn for ANYTHING in 10 years... I guess I still have the big horn hunt to hope for

Imagine my surprise getting a draw email for Big Bend Ranch State Park this morning. It'll be a solo trip. Looking forward to the adventure.

I had 10 points.

Had no ideas points are cubed. That's wild with some of you all have 15+ pts in some of these categories. With 15 points that 3,315 entries vs 1 entry for a first timer. Makes me feel very luck to draw this year and makes me feel like I have some waiting to do!

https://tpwd.texas.gov/huntwild/hunt...%20are%20drawn.

Quote:
Loyalty Points for each application will then be cubed for the drawing (example: 2 Loyalty Points would be 2 x 2 x 2 = 8 points for the drawing).

Its all over this forum and others, stirred up the guys with fewer preference points pretty good for sure, and the ones with lots of points that put into lots of hunts this year without knowing about the cubing.

I drew enchanted rock doe and spike but had to pass due to scheduling conflicts. Just burned 8 points.

I was very lucky to draw a second chance at James Daughtry for WT management.

Its been 4 years since drawing anything for me.

I'm really hoping that my kiddos draw the youth exotic hunt today (if they do the drawing today like I assumed they would). I'm also looking forward to drawing the bighorn sheep hunt today as well.

If he doesn't turn 17 before you can apply he can still draw youth hunts. My son turned 17 in July so I applied for all the hunts we could before his birthday. All his apps are free and he was eligible for the youth draws. He's drawn a youth hunt this spring.

He'll be hitting 17 in March so I think that's the end of the road. He's had a good run though, got a great buck last year.
