She stated that as soon as the nomination was announced...not sure if she’s up for re-election.

ACB will still be a scotus...Im mostly curious to which one or two dems vote for her.

I thought she said there shouldn't be a vote and now she is saying she'll vote against confirmation. I might have missed it though.

She is probably going to get voted out this round. She said from the beginning it was a no vote from her. Read where she thought about switching to independent.

She is...and got her hands full on this one.

“...the Maine senator is in the midst of a difficult reelection campaign against Sarah Gideon, the Democratic speaker of the state House.“

IMO she’s pandering to cover her butt....

Collins is a rhino and probably will not be re elected in Maine. She was heavily criticised in her state during the Kavanaugh proceedings. She's too worried about her political future rather than voting for ACB. Hate to see any Republican senators lose, but she has been projected to lose the election since 2019.

He's not attractive woman. And I think he/she is embarrassed about that minute moment of clear conscience when she/he spoke some defensive truth about Kavanaugh during the witch trial. I think Collins, swamp-rat that he/she is, just wants to prove to the Swamp that she/he is still willing to play ball and toe the line.

Maine is kinda interesting to me. The coastal areas typically vote dem, rest of the state Republican. Typical rural v urban voting pattern, held true for 2016 when Clinton won the electoral vote.

I spent some time up there and you just wouldn't expect the dem vote, but it's similar to Montana. Population centers vote dem. Id bet all 4 of Maine's electoral votes go to uncle Joe.

TRUMP will win big, add senators, and take back the House. Don't believe these fake polls. We will have an awesome four more years.

Ive spent a little bit of time in Lewiston. Its about as redneck as any town you'll find in the south. Mind you, that was 20 years ago. But a saw more rebel flag stickers on trucks in a a couple of weekends than I've probably ever seen in the south. Lol

I torn, I hate to lose a seat at all, but I'm hoping we can pick up a few more in other areas. She needs to be gone.

It's a weird stance to take in my opinion. These Men and Women were voted in for their terms. They are to represent their constituents throughout those terms.

It should be the same both ways. Serve your terms and do your job. Wait and see should not happen.

I thought last I heard was that she doesn't believe Trump should appoint anyone until after the elections but she will vote ACB in if it there has to be a vote.

nope...she's been consistent on this.

https://www.foxnews.com/us/live-upda...-supreme-court

Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, took a veiled shot her party’s leadership in the Senate on Sunday when she announced that she would be voting against the confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.

Just setting herself up as the "rational Republican" for all the news shows after she loses her race.

Never understood why coastal Maine was so liberal. Fishing industry is the mainstay of coastal Maine and the Dems have about regulated them out of business. Why kiss the foot that keeps kicking you?

Exactly, what does it matter if she is listed as a Republican in the Senate if she can't be counted on to support the most important aspect of her job? Confirming Barrett is of the utmost importance. Collins may as well be a Democrat.

Well maybe she is voting under her voters choice, technically she represents the people, not a party
But I hear what you’re saying

True and I support that. My point is in regards to the who controls the Senate. We always hear the Repubs have a 3 seat advantage but with her, Romney and others it just doesnt ever seem like there is an advantage for conservatives and common sense.

Also, I dont keep up with what is going on with her and her constituents but she must not be keeping them happy because she is currently behind in her re-election bid.

That's what I thought after spending time up there. After he retired, my buddy took over his family's Maine multi-generational commercial fishing business. He was the one who was "encouraged by a judge" to join .mil back when that was actually an option. 20 years later, he's back to being a full time "Mainer".

His view and most of his family's is commercial fishing in the NE is similar to ag in Texas and most places. Fewer and fewer people go into it, and the dem's don't understand the economic multiplier that industry provides to the entire local and regional economies.

It's often viewed as something that the "rich" inherited, even though anyone in that industry understands well it takes a lot of balls, hard work and fearlessness to make it year after year.

The US is soft, the dems want it softer. Hard times create great men, great men create great times, great times create soft men and the cycle continues.

Same-- she's supremely qualified (get it?) and a lock, especially after her confirmation. True colors will show I think.
