    Cormorants!!!

I just stocked several thousand dollars worth of fingerlings in my new lake last week and cormorants are already eating them. Anybody know what to do about them?

I know what I would have done before posting on the www

You may be able to get a depredation permit

TPWD used to let pretty much anyone pull a depredation permit for them. It switched to USFWS and I stopped applying. Not sure if they still give them out or not.

Rule #1, don’t post about your cormorant problem on a publicly accessed web forums.

I’ll let you figure out the next step.

I hear a live baited trot line sunk deep if a good way to catch ‘fish’ in a pond. But prolly won’t matter much if the numbers are high.

They are a scourge. I had a similar problem....hundreds at a time would land on my lake and wipe my fish out. I looked into a permit....but the paperwork application process through USFW is ridiculous.

It was hard to sss....because you have to monitor is constantly and I didn't have the time. I never did find anything that worked.
