I listened to a couple hours of their first show. Good to hear he and Sirios again but I wonder how much staying power they will have. They made it clear they are not really a sports station - that’s just one of the things they’ll talk about. Gonna be difficult to come up with enough “stuff” to keep people interested all day. Julie Dobbs and some other guy will be the morning crew 7 to 11

It was very disjointed, but I suppose that’s just how it will be early on.

I really liked hearing Jeff Cavanaugh again.

Was great to hear mikes voice, would not shock me to see some bigger names come over from ticket “only want musers”.

The Ticket was concerned enough to have the Musers and other host join the Hardline last night. I caught it as they started and listened for a while. A lot of it was setting up the shows, people, etc. I like a number of the personalities, so it may be a good option.

They already have secured the broadcast for the Mavericks, so they have some credibility on day 1.

I will certainly give them a shot. I already programmed a button in the truck so at the very least I can quickly punch-out of the ticket when they start talking politics or are otherwise annoying.

I think they will be a much better option in the afternoons. The two mikes will be a good fit togehter. I have pretty much stopped listening to the ticket after 3 anyway. I don't care much for corby and bob rambles on too much. I also think bob has changed a lot and is not the same guy he was before making the change to afternoons. I dont see any other of the tier one guys from the ticket leaving.

For sure. I listed to the ticket all the time until they start talking politics, then I'm out!

Rhynes, Sirois, and Grubes will be a great listen. Tuned in to Cavanaugh and KT now. Don't think I will be turning it back to 96.7.

I left the Ticket after the woke Hardline took over. I could not stand the lack of chemistry between Bob and Corby. I knew it would be difficult and not at all the same without Mike, who is and was the Ticket. I have not listened to the Ticket since February 2020. I still like some of the personalities but it's just not the same. I was excited when I heard Mike was coming out of retirement. I listened to yesterday's first show and yeah it was a bit clunky but I think it's going to work and I look forward to hearing the old gray wolf again in the DFW market. The Ticket guys have to be worried...

I'm going to listen this afternoon. Quit listening to The Ticket in 2020. Got tired of Danny and Corby and how they were with Mike. Read an article the other day and Corby is butthurt that Rhynes did this. Your dumbarse is one of the reasons he's doing this now. But he's playing the victim.

I stopped listening to the ticket about 15 years ago. The sound of Corby’s voice gives me PTSD!

I probably won’t listen to 97.1 much either as I tune in to espnu most days. Most of the time it’s just background noise now that Mark Packer is gone!

how are we feeling about it now?

i agree, the first several days were tough, they spent too much time trying to justify this thing and talking about how great and inclusive the process has been... but i think its gotten better and they have found a groove.

i think as it goes on, they will run out of backgrounds and personal histories and it will slide towards sports a little more.

ben and skin and have a great following already so thats got to be helping the shows around them.

i would love to see jake come over, and always felt like mike loved him so i am holding out some hope....

I agree jhouse - "we say what we want" or whatever is fine but it has to be interesting or funny enough to hold the listeners interest. I think that eventually will have to include more sports - too many segments to fill with just BS'ing around. I am clicking over to them pretty often to see what they are talking about.

I will definitely check that out.

I think the Ticket is coming apart at the seams. Trying to get G. Keith all over the place, show hosts all over each others shows, etc. Seems like they a scrambling to hang on. Were it not for the morning show, they'd be hurtin' for certain, imo. As always, time will tell the tale...

They gave Danny some good opportunities to be on the air more once Rhyner left. He did okay, but i'm guessing it was a promotion without a raise. clearly they don't pay their quasi-support staff anything close to a living wage.

As others, I left the Ticket in 2020 with the changes. Rhynes retirement created the abomination of Corby and Sturm. I hope they feel the heat at the Ticket. The only host worth a **** is GK. I am tuning in to listen to the Freak a lot more these days. Agree it was disjointed at first. The addition of Danny Paul to the Downbeat will be interesting...Corby has to be p****d since it seemed he and Danny were very close.

I think the Ticket's ratings pretty much carry 3 or 4 stations for Cumulus D/FW, so they pay the on air hosts pretty well to keep them, but everyone else is deemed "expendable". It doesn't seem sustainable now that the young talent is getting away. That's part of the reason it boggles my mind that they keep Norm around.

If they were, that should tell Corky something....

I'm convinced he's the main reason Rhynes left in the first place.

My 100% speculation on all things Ticket / Rhyner:

I think Rhyner, i know he's dead, left because: 1 - he could, 2 - the culture has / had changed. Too much corporate BS. I'm a Day 1, P1. From the days when the dang signal couldn't reach Cedar Hill, Fax Fodder, all of it. In those days it was some cowboy radio, and those boys has FUN. Over the decades that has changed. Clock over content, etc. etc. Mike finally got into a deal that worked, and made some money. Quite a change for a guy that had been an FM, morning drive, sports guy and yuck monkey. He had enough money to walk away, and wasn't having fun. The Irish Exit told me all i needed to know. He, i believe, was perfectly content in retirement, and another opportunity came along. The 'radio guy' in him wasn't done, so he got back in the game. But this time he knows some people. So, he lined up Sirois (sp?), J Dobbs, Danny, etc. And off we go into the new venture. If he could figure out a way to blast the morning show off the Ticket he would.

Sirois, as far as i can figure, is semi-independently wealthy, he could afford to take a vacay waiting to join the Fun Bunch on the new station.

Danny? Reasons top leave?
1. More money as a show host. Good for him.
2. Robert Sturm
3. More money as a show host.
4. Dan McDowell
5. More money as a show host.
6. Corby Davidson - F him. Luckiest bastage in the world to even have his job.
7. More money as a show host.
8. Cumulus BS

You get the idea. I like the sound of the new afternoon show. Will have to grow into the others. The Ticket is dying a slow death. Putting G. Keith all over the air is not the answer. I doubt the station will die. It'll just never be the same. Time marches on. Oh well. It's really like having a friend that had a bad stroke. They're still there, but it's not the same, and it'll never be the same. Remember the good times. So long Old Ticket.

Oh and one more time - Eff C. Davidson.
