Whether we shot a deer or not, I was proud of her determination. From going in the backyard and shooting the target, to sitting in the stand and practicing her draw and aim, to waiting patiently for the right shot, even after a few deers had come and gone, making us think our chance had passed. She was focused and confident even more so than I ever was my first bow hunt.
I'm looking forward to many future outings.
And I would be in hot water if I did not mention my wife, who sat in an adjacent blind and was our forward spotter, letting us know what was coming in, and also being the one who found the arrow and first blood, and who had the idea of getting our dogs involved, and ultimately finding the deer 200 yards from where it was shot.
