Not a call I ever wanted to get

I have not been able to bring cam to work with me for the last four days due to me working in a hi trafic area , so she has stayed home in a half acre fenced yard , My neighbor called me a hour ago and said cam got out and was struck by a truck and was killed . I rushed home hoping it wasent her but it was ! I checked and all gates were closed and no holes under fence , I can only speculate that she climbed over the fence which she has never done before . I'm not sure what I am going to tell my kids as they will be devastated worse than I am !!
