Me and three of my friends from Iowa drove down to Texoma last Thursday. We Striper fished and ran jug lines out of Soldier Creek on Friday. We caught a box full of Stripers and bunch of Blues on the jugs. Our biggest blue was 43 lbs. We threw back another 40 and had what appeared to be a 50+ lb.break off at the boat.
We then headed down to a good friends ranch in East Texas along the Sabine and put the hurt on some pigs. We shot some from box stands right before dark and then whacked a bunch after dark with thermals. I had never hunted hogs at night with thermal monoculars and thermal scopes. What a fun time !!! My friend has the good stuff. The rifle, with suppressor, thermal scope and the monocular that I was using totaled about $16,000. Way to rich for me, but it sure was a sweet and deadly rig.
During the day on Saturday and Sunday we fished some of my friends awesome lakes stocked with Bass, Crappie, and Catfish. It was just an all around outstanding weekend.
I am back in Iowa now getting fired up for turkey season.
