I was hesitant to start this, until we had all the facts.
4 years ago, my lovely and talented wife was diagnosed with kidney cancer. They did a partial nephrectomy, and she has been clear, until 3 weeks ago. Her Urologist sent us to an oncologist at UT Southwestern, and the cancer came back.
This time, it is very aggressive.. already stage 3. Size of a baseball, spread into the vena cava, moving toward her other kidney, and up towards the heart.
He is assembling a team of liver and heart transplant specialist, to assist. Will have to remove at least one kidney, most of the vena cava. Very high risk.
She goes for a brain scan Monday, to rule out spread there.
If’n you have a moment, say a prayer for Sylvia. This is ten times more devastating than the first surgery.
