How much peanut oil
Only second year frying turkey and I can’t remember how much oil to buy. Standard turkey pot, 30 qt I think.

I buy the 3 gallon package.......Put your turkey in the pot and fill with water until it covers about an inch over the turkey. Remove the turkey and mark the water level on your pot. Now empty the water from the pot and you know exactly how much oil it will take to fry that particular turkey. Im doing a couple on Thursday as well. Good Luck! -
Take your pot that you will fry your turkey in. Put your turkey in it. Fill it up with water until the water completely covers your turkey by an inch or so, yes the turkey will float, but you can hold it down. Pull turkey out of the pot. The water level will drop. Mark the water line with a pencil. Pour water out into gallon jugs or whatever you know is accurate. That is how much oil to get.
