My son starts A&M in the Fall for wildlife biology with an end goal of being a game warden.

Hope he gets the same call one day.

That was my goal when I studied wildlife when I attended A&M, but life sent me in a different direction. From what I understand, law enforcement training carries more weight than wildlife training. Of course that was what I heard 50+ years ago, so things might have changed, but I would recommend that he pick up some LE classes, maybe ride around with some LEOs or game wardens whenever possible. Congrats to the son of the OP!

Congrats! i went through the academy in louisiana in 1996 and spent 5 years with them. some very memorable times! our academy was 9 weeks of POST training followed by an additional 12 weeks of wildlife, fish, and boating safety training.

As mentioned, I have a nephew trying. He did the internship, rode second man with wardens in 3 counties. He interviewed twice. They recommended he get his peace officer license before applying again. So, he's working for a local PD and going to school
