    EEEWWW! Gross!

A friend of a friend's son shot this buck (with rifle) and found it had an old wound---asked if the meat is good---any thoughts? My thought is no.

I think I would cut the area out and process the rest.

I would think the front and rear quarters would be just fine and neck meat.

Had a similar experience several seasons back---small buck hobbled up to the feed pen and was barely able to get inside. Had a soft-ball sized wound in the left shoulder. This was 2-3 days after youth weekend. I drilled him and he took off over the pen, ran about 20 yds and piled up. I dressed him, discarded that shoulder and kept the rest. Well, about 3 days later the smell was at the point where he went to the buzzard buffet---no way was I gonna keep it.

My son shot one that had that yellow tint and had a wound across the brisket, asked a biologist friend if it was good and he said he wouldn’t feed it to his dog!

Cook it out, meat will just a little more juicy than normal.

Nope, I wouldn’t eat any of that deer.

Chunk it. No way I would eat that nasty thing. It's to easy to kill a un-infected one..
I've seen them worse than that and the strange thing is most of the time the don't even stink. It looks like it should..
