Default 270" escapee shot in Texas

Just saw this today. Guy got roasted on FB for shooting a high fence escapee deer on his free range deer lease. Just silly. The deer is stuff dreams are made of. And he got it all on video. I would of shot before the deer cleared the broomweed .
If it's been posted before, forgive me. I did a quick search but saw nothing.

My same thoughts, I had to watch it twice, I'm sure his nerves were out of control though.

They said they didn't know it was a HF deer until after they shot it, did they ever say how they found out?

Big ol deer for sure.

Good for this dude!

The talk around town where i hunt is the monster that's escaped from the HF place down the road from our ranch. Every hunt, I daydreamed of that dude walking out. I knew I'd shoot in an instant but was curious what the GS would say. Glad we're all in agreement!

SO how does ownership go on escaped game animals? I know exotics if tagged belong to the owner, but do whitetail?

I am kind of curious where this was at for some reason. My gut from the video tells me northwest Texas, maybe Abilene up to the lower panhandle somewhere.

For those of you who missed it, his son grazed it in the neck during youth season. Part of me is happy the kid didn't get it. I would hate a kid to face the kind of scrutiny that comes with shooting a deer that big. I think dad has the thicker skin for it.

Congrats to you and your wife on both the deer. Really nice 8 point and that monster u shot. Great video. Enjoyed watching it. Just to see that monster walk in to the feeder would b nerve racking but to get a shot at it, dont care who it is they would b shaking. Great message at the end of the video.
