I thought it tasted more like a house cat than a dog.

If I trusted the hunter and the cook - I'd try it. But I am not going out of my way to clean and cook up a dillo.

I'm not kidding. We had dog a couple of times while in Honduras back in '81. Tasted similar.

I’ve had it when I was working in Trinidad. It’s a special meal around Christmas. They chop it up, shell and all, into pieces about 1”x1”, then sauté it and you basically peel the meat off the shell with your teeth. They hunt them with dogs, but these are much bigger than ours, 10+ pounds. I also had iguana when I was there, we grilled it, pretty dang good, meat was kind of sweet.

I had armadillo chili when I was a kid, it was great.
When I was about 12 I tried like hell to clean one, that's when I found out the rib bones are connected to the shell. I made a total mess out of that thing before I finally gave up. didn't know about the leprosy. Nothing has fallen off.
