    Firewood???

What’s the average length on a stick?
Got some trees to cut down tomorrow and they are post oak, so figure I will cut it up for firewood. I normally just wing it being I burn all of it outside when camping or just sitting around the house.

I measure mine at 18” because I want it to easily fit my fireplace.

I was thinking around 20” would be about right.

We cut 16". Fits in any fireplace and 3 rows wide is 48". Easy to stack 48x96x48. That way you can easy stack it per cord

I would go with 16". Your fire place really only needs the first 5" anyway.

18” is my go to length.

Thanks!! Pretty good info right there.
I don’t have a fireplace but we just inherited my in-laws place and there is a wood heater in it. There are some trees in their front yard that didn’t bud out this spring, so going to be cutting those down tomorrow.

Works for us, easy to track usage and how much you have stockpiled. We would use 3.5 cord a winter. Right now my dad has 9.5 years of wood split, stacked, and drying.
