I thought the same thing about the eye after I made the post so I went back and looked at the other photos and it's deceiving, looks like both eyes are good.

There's a dentist land owner in south texas that documented a buck with real leg injury for several years. The antler was deformed every other year.

I’m betting you’re right. I sent the photo to my neighbor and he said they used to watch this year a few years ago but hadn’t seen him the last couple years and thought he’d died.

He could’ve been hit by a car. I’ve seen dogs in his shape after they were hit by a car.

First guess would be fence and he got lucky and didn't stay hung up and just lost lower leg
