Gearing up for a surf fishing trip and my dad typically rents a van...unfortunately, its costs an arm and a leg to rent one these days with the rental fleet in limited supply.

Decided to weld dad a rod tube rack to go on the roof rack for the trip to Alabama. Actually came out nice...

Me too.

I take the reels off and zip tie the rods to the roof rack.

I have a big PVC tube like the OP because I have some expensive rods. I just use big HVAC zip ties to tie it to the roof rack on my wife’s 4Runner.

He built that thing like he was going to carry anti aircraft missiles in them....
I would load the rods in from the front, never know that cap even though treaded, may come off on the road, due to vibration, tampering, etc...

Yeah I built it stong after busting a couple eyes carrying with some zip ties
