Default New mailbox

Had a neighbor gift me an old wooden boat. Well since boats by definition float, I'll call it an old wooden outboard motor mount shaped like a boat.

Anyway, the plan isnt for it to see the water again. 1st step was to remove the 50 something motor...(it ran when parked)

Cleaned everything up and polished the chrome. Gave it as much elbow grease as I cared to give

Bought a perfectly good plastic mailbox, chopped it up and spray foamed it into the hood

Buddy made me a mount, clamped the motor on and slapped on some numbers

Mail lady is using it so everything must be good!

Still not 100% what lays instore for the boat yet. For now it still sleeps in the yard.

Cool...but how does the mail lady know when to stop and pick up outgoing mail if she isn't delivering that day?

thanks everyone. was a fun quick little project

right now the idea on the boat is when i get a shop built...(future) make it into a bar and stick it in there. not sold on the idea myself, but i've been given pintrest pics to make it happen.

the boat (not the bottom) is actually in pretty good shape and usable. the windscreens still hinge open and the frame is still tight. real craftsmanship

as far as the red flag, i was prepared to transfer the flag from the new plastic mailbox that i chopped up and stick it on the cowl, but i cannot remember the last time i've sent anything out, like we did in the old days... with a stamp. if the urge hits i can send out from work
oh, and the real reason is boss said no, i don't want the ugly red flag.

i did install a outboard motor locking bar to help keep it from walking off. didn't know they made such a thing. but now i need some way to secure the brass prop but still allow it to spin.
currently just a cotter pin holds it on.

open to some ideas, dont want it to come up missing

That's Cool. Some jackwagon is probably going to think it still runs and try to steal it.
