what caliber to buy?

I am in the market for a new caliber of rifle to buy and just don't know what to get. I have a 22, 223, 270, and 3006. This would mostly be for mostly hunting in the hill country. Give me any good suggestions or reviews yall have.

You need a short action. 243 or 7mm-08.

Or realize you have enough deer guns and get something bigger.

375 Ruger, 45-70, 338 Win mag; something interesting.

7mm-08 would be a great addition especially if you are primarily hunting from box blinds. It's a short action round and it performs well with shorter barrels (18-20") so it handles really well in box blinds.

Similar performance to a 270, but in a short action (308 case).

It is simply a 308 necked down to a 7mm. Great hunting round. It just flat out works.
