Default Phone scams on the rise.

Corona has brought the miscreants out in droves. My spam\scam calls and texts are up 60%. Just got this gem of a text.

I’ve been getting them almost daily. I have to assume that people fall for that, otherwise they wouldn’t be doing them. But for the life of me, I can’t understand why anyone would click a link that they receive through text or email

I remember one time getting a call from a scam about irs taxes. I called back continually just to have some fun. I kept getting a girl on the line. I finally said my name is Wyatt Earp. Then the call went silent and a man’s voice came on the line. He said, “I’m gonna pass your phone number to everyone!” I started laughing at him on the phone. Told him he needed to do a better job with his scams.

Never got another call. Lol

I tried blocking the number but they keep texting from different number each time. PIA for sure. Does no good to block number, must be computer generated with random numbers. Anyone figures out how to stop this crap let me know. Getting 2 or 3 a day. I just delete and go on.

It scares me how they know your name. I’ve had several txt messages from what appears to be citi bank wanting me to confirm information for an incoming deposit.

Maybe it’s that inheritance from your long lost cousin, the Nigerian Prince!

I get that one, and Netflix, every 2-3 days....guess they aren't aware that I don't have an account on either of those platforms but at least this approach I can kind of understand someone clicking on the link. I would think most people these days are cognizant of the fact that these scams exist, but there are people who don't think and fall for it

Default Phone scams on the rise.

If they’d use proper diction, grammar, and punctuation, they’d scam a LOT more people.

Not the “Try Again Payment” button. Lmao

I hate to admit it but the wife fell for the Netflix payment and it was a mess. It was slightly not entirely her fault as her card had been skimmed 10 days before and the account was tied to that card, so she was already switching over the payments so the timing was perfect when the scam email arrived. I watched as they hit our card for $2200 in a couple of minutes. There were cash app charges of $500, $500, $400, $400, $300, and then about 8 for $8.99. How can they even get those approved that fast. It happened right before my eyes on the screen.

It happens. I almost fell for one from “my bank”.
I decided to call them directly and it was a

I got the social security call yesterday, and I really like messing with them. The guy on the other end was different though, he actually came on the line and told me that he wanted money. I responded with, so do I. He said that I should join his team so that we could make more money and live a happy life. I told him that I was living a happy life and to stop calling me and I hung up on him.

This was the first time that they came out and said, I need money. I could not believe it.

Yes, these calls are annoying but what really irks me is that they particularly prey on the elderly. I can tell my parents not to respond to these types of email and text messages but, one day, they’re going to do it before I can catch it.

Hoping there’s a special place in Hell for people who prey children and the elderly. It just ain’t right.

I've been getting a ton of texts with links lately. USPS package hung up, want to chat with lonely women, etc.
I periodically get VMs from folks that want to buy property. They're not Bangladeshi but they are playing the numbers game.

There is a setting on my iPhone which bumps all calls to voice mail if the number isn't in my contact list. It's a winner for me but I don't get many calls from folks I don't already know and it isn't a business phone.
