Anyone headed out this weekend? Hoping this cooler weather gets them moving a little better than the past couple of weekends. If not, at least it'll feel nice out.

Nope not looking like I'm gonna get to make my first sit in my cedar tree till first weekend of November. Hopefully all the gun hunters will push some deer my way . It's been killing me not getting to hunt yet

Iím not sure yet. May try to squeeze in a Sunday afternoon/evening hunt weather permitting.

I hunted last Saturday morning and saw zero deer. Did have one pig come into the feeder but he didnít stick around long enough for me to get a shot.

No rut activity yet. Sat this morning and it was the most action I’ve had so far this season. Three bucks out early and a shooter 8 that stayed around 100 yards and never came close enough. The 8 sparred with a two other bucks but, just tickled the horns and nothing serious. This cold front might get them a little frisky (wishful thinking).

Any updates or pictures from anybody? I still haven't made it down since season started. Gonna be making my first sit of the year this next Friday before the gun opener and will be at the lease through Tuesday I think. I cannot wait! Hope they are on their feet

Got about 8Ē of rain after I planted my plots, I was afraid it washed out the seed, bit looks like I got good germination. Seeing tons of deer, my target shooter bucks included. Didnít have any time to get the bow out this season, planning to hunt the rifle opener. Did a little sighting in this weekend with an old custom gun I got awhile back.

Some beautiful wood on that rifle! I'm hoping the big buck I had on camera in August and early September shows back up. He's the only one I've had on camera this year that got me excited.

Those pics were from end of August and when I checked cameras at the end of September he hadn't been on either camera he was regularly showing up on. Hoping he was just hammering the acorns and didnt wander off too far. I would like for him to score with all the does on our place if nothing else Haha

Tommy Pulati's does amazing work. He is located just past walmart on top of that hill headed east. There is a big P on his gate. His number is listed above on Cabelas post.

Just had what looked to be a 5 yr old 9 pushing a doe around about 100 yards out. If that's going on it could be loud tomorrow morning around here when all the rifles start barking. Had a 5 or 6 yr old 8 come by at first light but he didnt trip my trigger. Especially not on my first sit of the year

Likewise. It should be a active weekend for sure. Can't wait to hear my neighbors shoot all of the deer I've passed so far this season haha

Good luck everyone!

Lol yeah I know that feeling all too well

Had a young buck come in behind me grunting about 45 mins ago. Also hear what sounded like a car crash down in the creek bottom in the area I last saw that 9! Never heard two bucks hit that hard fighting ! Think they both got head aches because it was a very short lived fight sounded like haha

Any updates after the weekend? I shot a doe at 6 yards Friday afternoon and have seen a bunch of deer but not a ton in bow range. Wind has been kinda weird so I haven't been able to hunt my usual bow set ups. Saw a good mature 9 Friday morning out of bow range pushing a doe and had a couple of young up and corners I could have stuck but that's it. I heard the results of the big buck contest in town Saturday morning and the winning buck only scored 104! Couldn't believe that lol I passed bucks bigger than that Saturday morning. Haven't heard very many shots either. In stand now and will be hunting tonight and the morning also

Had lots of activity all weekend. Saw a shooter three different times but, was only on my side of the fence once for about 10 seconds. He was tending a doe every time I saw him. I saw bucks running all over the place on the drive in from Forth Worth Friday afternoon too. I'm surprised there wasn't more success based on what I witnessed. This weekend should be 100% game on for the rut.

We will see...I have all day today and tomorrow until 10:00-11:00 before I have to roll out back to the house

This past weekend was pretty eventful. Had bucks responding to rattling and grunt calls. Had two bucks chase does across 581 on my way home last night so, keep your eyes peeled. One was a big 8 that I actually pulled over and took pictures of and the other was a nice 10.

I was able to get the job done yesterday morning at about 8:30. There was a 10 point about 400 yards out. I rattled trying to get his attention and a little 6 came out looking for the fight. About 10 minutes went by so I rattled again and had a 4.5 7pt come out. I hit the grunt and he started thrashing some bushes. He came to the fenceline so, I grunted again. He jumped the fence and came in on a bee line to my tree stand and gave me a 10 yard shot. He was down in 40 yards. Glad to break in the new Triax and to take a good cull buck out of the herd.

Best of luck to everyone as the rut should be in full swing this week.

Nice, congrats!

I had a few small bucks visit my feeder this weekend. Nice 8, but too young. Then I had a group of about 25 pigs come in sat evening, so I picked out the most colorful one.
Planning on another trip this Sunday-tues, depending on weather.

Hey Y'all- Joining a little late here- I'm about 4 miles west of the golf course. In 5 years, we've seen one hog.
Activity this weekend was pretty good - we only have a handful of shooters and a ton of scrub bucks that need to be culled if our land owner would let us. Our place needs some serious management, but our hands are tied.

Was with a group of hunters on one of my places right outside of town. Had a wounded piebald Bucks up against my fence. He was gut shot and obviously too small to meet antler restrictions . Called wardens and they came out. Was a good looking young buck. He was dead by the time they got there.

Here's the cull I was able to take on Sunday morning. Had pics of him for the past two years and there just hadn't been much improvement.

Nice cull, we have a 4 point similar to that we need to get as well. We are East of Lometa about 6 miles. So far the buck activity on our 1200 plus acres has been very sketchy. There are lots of acorns, so we are thinking it will be a better late season this year.
Good luck!
