I really feel like the area is totally different after the floods so we will have to scout for new trails no matter what area you decide to hunt. I never really got to hunt the area I scouted last summer. It was flooded the whole season. I had a camera stuck in there for three months before I could finally make my way back to it. Even in the floods deer were moving in my spot.

The GW we spoke with in January only knew of 3-4 deer taken in Somerville this past season. I met a guy that said he took a nice buck in October but other than that I didn't know anyone else that took a deer.

I second the deer moving into flooded spots. Harvested a doe opening weekend in calf deep water. [emoji6][emoji6]

Can you hunt hogs from June - September? I was out there Saturday and I jumped about 15 pigs. Just curious if you can hunt them right now. I've heard two different stories.

Weeds are to my armpits here. Not sure about the ragweed though. I didn't notice any.

I was looking forward too hunting sommerville some this year. But some of these people don't know public land rules or manners.
                            - be kind to other hunters, if there is someone in a spot, try if possible to walk around them. As a hunter, realize if your location is the only way through an area, people will probally disturb you.
                            - no land can be claimed. If I go up a tree, to realize someone put a stand in a tree not far from me...I don't have to move. The person who gets to the spot first had rights to that spot that day. You can't hang a stand and expect people to know if you. Even if you see the stand, that area is still fair game if the hunter is not present.

Let me know where you hang your stands so we can accompany each other every hunt and you let me know how your season goes. [emoji2359]
