    Asf/Lamco Hybrid feeder build

Well this started as a love for two different types of feeders. I have always liked the body of the ASF #1000 steel feeder that I converted from a protein version into a corn feeder.

This is that feeder I’m talking about after setting it up in 2015.

    Asf/Lamco Hybrid feeder build

Really liked the feeder above and had some great luck taking some great animals under it over the years.
Fast forward to this year I recently bought a #1000 Lamco stand and fill feeder. With having to lift feed bags into the taller feeders not being as fun as it use to be I started liking the short feeders more and more. I’ve always had reservation of the shorter feeders. Just did not care for the feeders blocking the deer from being underneath them and as a bowhunter I liked all the view and shooting area I could get with the taller feeders.
Time has changed my mind some.
This is the Lamco I recently bought and inspired me to build a hybrid.

This is the start of the build with mounting the 30” round plates. Same size Lamco uses.
Also the timer/solar box and tornado spinner that Lamco also uses.
Plates are spaced 2” apart and the small funnel is cut 1/2” shorter similar to the same specs used by the Lamco design.
I also used small pipe conduit for the motor wire and it does separate at the elbow for removal of the bottom plate for maintenance. Used a electrical junction box to cover the motor up.
Also used Lamco lid latches for the lid replacing the ASF springs that are not very good.
Feeder legs cut down to have a total height of 5ft5inches. Mounted the legs with some screws and you can actually skid the feeder around and load it without having to remove the legs.
Painted with some marine grade paint.
Hope y’all like the hybrid,I really like it and it works great.

Sorry if my details are lacking and I’ll answer any question. It’s not a very hard thing to do and I like the simple design for varmint proofing. This particular feeders lower body funnel shape allows some good vision underneath and behind the feeder from the ground blind. The plates allow for the area under the feeder to be more visible too which I really like for a stand and fill type feeder.

Nice! Where did you get the timer/solar box?

I contacted Lamco and purchased it from them direct.

Also you need to move the timer holder to fit a full size battery in it. Lamco uses a half size battery. It’s easy to move though.

Looks great and should last for years to come.

Well done Sir. I’ve been trying to get Atascosa Wildlife Supply to build a hybrid like that for years.

Did you have to have the round plates made?

I like how this turned out!
