    Fishing La Paz, Mexico

My wife and I just returned from La Paz. We had an absolute blast fishing for Roosters in the Sea of Cortez. We met some locals who set us up with a top notch guide. We watched rooster fish smash bait behind the boat as big friget birds dove down from above. We also saw lots of dolphins and big manta rays jumping out of the water. It was non-stop action all day. We ended the day with 10 roosters, 1 grouper for dinner, and 1 jack cravelle. If anyone is traveling there and wants a good guide let me know. My wife and I are already looking to go back.

Yea, I think its something everyone should experience! One of the local guys, who we made friends with, caught this absolute monster on the fly. They guessed the weight to be about 75lbs

They were definitely tired by the end of the day. My wife needed a break after fighting the first fish of the day. I caught that big jack on 7ft medium spinning rod and it peeled drag like crazy. It was a blast

We stayed at hotel Marea in town. We met the guide about an hour south in Ensanada de muertos. That place is known as rooster alley. There is a nice hotel there, if all you want to do is fish. It's great place for the family with lots of things to do. Swimming with whale sharks is a big thing there.

That looks like a good area for roosters. We made the mistake of booking a guide before we got to La paz and that was a mistake. Guide didnt show up. Called an hour later with an excuse... we still ended up going despite the late start and didn't catch a single fish. It definitely helps to know who your going with.
