    RHR vs Double Down Protein

Just got off the phone with Dilley Feed and Grain. They are now selling a protein called RHR that uses peanuts as a component and formulated for south Texas. Sounds very similar to double down at a better price. Seems like a no brainer if you want a peanut based protein at a decent price with a better percentage of protein, fat, and fiber. I’m curious if anyone has used this RHR?

    RHR
    Protein 21%
    Fat 5%
    Fiber 9%
    $10.10 a sack

    Double Down
    Protein 20%
    Fat 4%
    Fiber 6.5%
    $12.50 a sack

Double Down is like the banjo minnow, it makes the deer eat it even if they're not hungry.

On the place I was on in Catarina we fed both, RHR is a cheaper product, you always had a lot more dust and smaller broken pieces of protein. DD was usually a cleaner product and better pellet sizes.

Our deer would hammer DD better than every other protein we fed over the years, idk why but they flat out ate it and that’s the whole purpose of it

RHR has been around for years. It was Dilley’s original protein feed. We fed it for a couple years. Deer eat it but didn’t see any noticeable difference from L&E. L&E is easier for us to use since they come fill up our feeders for us for almost the same price as buying RHR and filling the feeders ourselves. Pretty easy decision for us since most of our guys live 4 hours from the ranch.
