What's cool about this one is that its 50amp 240 and has dual fuel for my 500 gal propane tank if needed

Looks like a good one. Are there any advantages to the 30 amp and 50 amp twist lock outlets other than plugging into a breaker box transfer box or for an RV plug?

Can you use those heavier outlets to feed more power downstream for 110v appliances like window units, heaters, etc?

I actually bought this exact generator not quite a month before the freeze hit and was dang glad I did. I had some neighbors who were more than happy to pull some from it while the power was down as well.

The 30 amp transfer plug is definitely going on the meter box before hurricane season gets here.

It is better for what you are wanting. Most of the generators have 20amp's with gfi's and in my experience plugging into the 30 amp is better and less likely to trip than the 20amp, by about 10 amps

Amazon has a 30amp plug/short cord with 4 110 outlets on the other end that works good.

I think the 50amp is for the 240volt setting. I don't think 110volt is ever over 30amp.......but I'm an old pipefighter.....not a sparky!

That is a big 240v plug, so if you hooked it up to your panel you would not have to rebalance the system or put in a transfer switch. Depending on the size of your house it may run just about everything. I know it would run my shoebox here, I would just have to manually choose either the AC or the water heater. The downside with a 110v generator is you have to have all of your circuits on the same leg. This may require you to move some breakers around, not a huge deal but I do not want to do it at my house. I currently run a small generator and extension cords. I want to be able to plug in 240 into my main panel and manually turn on what I need using the breakers I already have. 11,000 watts if a ton or power and will use a lot of fuel.

Yep....you can run your water well and water heater and septic too. That's a huge deal when you don't have public utilities. You may have to rotate some equipment....but it's a kabillion times better than nothing.

Common price ie Amazon, Home Depot, etc was $882 plus tax so the figure in the OP is pretty much spot on.

Edited to add - Amazon is still showing it at $882.25 so they haven’t jumped the price up. I’d say it’s a pretty good buy at $700 but that is from limited experience with it.

You can buy one. The 240V is just 2 120V legs.

You will love it bobby...I built my chord but was working for a cable mfg / disty at the time & got the inside deal. Plug into the panel & just run the casa like normal. Mine is 6500 & have only used it once back during hurricane season. I only used the 120 & was going to throw the hot water breaker but we were only out 24 hours. The mini-split in the man cave is 120 so I drug a mattress into the garage.


We were one of the very few that didn't lose power for the cold event but was prepared.

I ran my PittBoss off of mine while the power was down. Also had our WiFi up for a bit, though that was spotty due to ComCast having their own power issues in the area.

Freezer, fridge, dehumidifier for the gun safe and even a hair drier for my daughter worked while all running at the same time.

Inverters are limited to about 3800 watts So this one is not an invertor.

This generator has a 30 amp plug and a 50 amp plug.

So get a 50 amp cord and a 50 amp reliance input plug and a interlock device.

Chew, if you just want to plug in a fridge or a freezer then you don't really need something that big. A smaller, easier to handle generator might be a better fit for you.

I happen to have a 50amp plug in my garage so I can back feed to my circuit box. I like the 1,000 but really need invertor for ACs and trailer etc

I'm looking at 2 - 3400 watt Champions running parallel so I can have the invertor and also use one as backup. The parallel kit has a 50amp plug

With a parallel kit those will make about 30 amps. Saw the formula on here. Watts divided by 240 = amps.

No. I had a big generator (8500/6800) but was trying to run two space heaters a refrigerator a TV and some lamps and I felt like I wasn't getting the proper power out of my generator.

I was using extension cords in the 110 outlets. That's why I was asking about being able to use the 30 or 50 amp circuits off of the generator to power 110 devices. I need the full power of a large generator but not necessarily to hook directly into a transfer switch which I do not have and I'm not going to install because I'm moving in two years.

If you use a 230v 50 amp circuit you will power both sides of your panel and will hit all of your 110 devices and maximize the generator power without extension cords inside the house. You will have to tie this into your main, looks like about $200 worth of parts, $100 for a heavy duty extension cord plus the generator you can take when you leave. If you still have that 8500 generator you can probably just tie with into your main with the parts and heavy duty cord. That 6800 running should be plenty unless trying to run heat pump with electric heat
