Day 1
When looking for a place to hunt I look for two things.
1. A single shooting lane from 30-50 yards long.
2. A place to easily make a ground blind, hide a popup or a tripod that is directly downwind of my shooting lane.
If I can't find those two items I move on to another area. When I find those two items. I throw out a bucket of corn and a camera.
I repeat that 4 times. Then I pick the easiest spot to make a blind for the next morning from the 4 spots and go setup the blind.
Day 2
Hunt the morning and then check cameras. If I find a target deer I'll set up another blind. If I don't find a target deer I will move at least 2 of the cameras to new spots.
I don't really look for deer sign when looking for a place to hunt. The deer are there and will find your corn quick. Another reason I don't look for the most deer sign I can find is that in my opinion the big boys don't usually hang out with the masses. Also the less familiar the deer are with the area the less likely they are to notice the new blob (my blind) in the area. Don't get me wrong if I have both 1 and 2 and there is great deer sign in the area, I don't shy away from that area, deer sign is just not a high priority for me. I let the cameras tell me what kind of deer are in the area.
As for my blind I usually hunt out of a homemade PVC blind.
