    Above Ground Pools

Wife had a company come out and give pricing on a 24 ft round pool with all the bells and whistles. Installed and supposedly excavated down 2 ft and stabilized. Ionizer, vacuum, 25 mil liner. I about fell out of my chair when I heard the price. What’s your experience and estimated cost spent if you’ve had 1 installed?

    Thanks in advance

I had a buddy pay to have one installed by a company about 5 or 6 years ago. It was an 18 ft pool and I think he paid around 6k. He had to take it down last January because of rust and a hole in the liner.

If was nicer than the walmart intex pools, but for that much I'd rather buy a new cheap one every couple years. Which is what I did until I had an in ground put in.

If you want one that is a hybrid inground/above ground pool, there's really only one brand to consider: metric. I priced one of the doughboy "bury-able" pools and the placed quited me 25K installed which is, in a word, NUTS. I talked to a company out in Bryan called Brazos Valley something or another and they quoted me about $8K or so for a Radiant Metric 21' Round and installation was about 2500. If you look out how those pools are built, you'll see they are quite a well built product. The only reason I don't have one installed now is that the installer decided he didn't want to come this far so I've been left with the decision of DIY and I don't have the time with other renovations going on. Take a look at the radiant metrics and see what you think...

I have about $ 700 in on an Intex. I figure it will last about 3 years if we take care of it.
I have never cared to have a pool but it sure is nice after a long day and the kids really enjoy it.
My inlaws have a classic above ground pool, replace the liner last year and thats the only thing they have done to it in the 17 years i have known them. Not sure of the brand name but or what they originally paid but for that length of time it have worked out great for them

We use the round Intex pools. They'll last 3-4 years tear down set up another in 2-3 hours.

Just set up one this year. Put the upgraded (sub $200) sand filter from amazon on yesterday. No issues so far. It a throw away, but at a throw away price so worked for us. I can send you some quotes we got on in ground from $55-100k if you want to get an idea of what you get for your money to evaluate. On hold for us until oil stabilizes at a much more impressive point.

One of their selling points is it had an upgraded ionized filter. No chlorine or hassle. I’d have to redo my septic if I went in ground

We looked these last summer. Concrete “stock tank” with plumbing and machinery for pool. “Cowboy swimming pool” if you will. It was less than 1/2 of an inground pool.

But I need a shop & porch extension before I spend that money on a pool. Momma isn’t fond of my priorities so she may win out In the end

We have had an above ground 24' for a few years. Family loves it. Ours was nowhere near $13k. We got it through Family Leisure. We had the system with no chlorine but I got rid of it and do it the old fashion way now. It is actually easier to keep clear.

I am also about $700 into an Intex, 14 footer. That includes masonry sand to level and an upgraded sand filter. Happy so far.
