Seen it on a front leg of an old hoss of a buck killed on our farm once many years ago.
He had a hole in his back leg with flies and maggots too. Tough animals.

Tough creatures for sure. Not sure he was put out of any misery. They look like they were healing up nicely and was probably getting around just fine. He looks healthy other than the obvious.
