Another great hunt this morning and even better doing it in cooler temps. First birds were working before shooting light and before 7 we had 14 floating in the spread. We had our four man limit right at 7:40 and stayed another half hour taking video. Great weather and great memories.

Yes sir, two groups of buddies killed 7 limits before 7 this morning. They must have followed the front and full moon script.

Scratched out a 6 man by 8:05.

Truly incredible how many birds were seen from 6:30-7:00 as far as the eye could see from east to west. However for every 1 that flew into the spread 100 kept heading south to the marsh. Hit a lull from about 715-745 then knocked out the rest just before 8am. I'd guess we laid eyes on 6000-8000 birds today.

Hopefully they scatter about since they just showed up for the next couple of days.

Finished a few birds shy of another 6 man this am.

It was National Geographic from 6:27-6:47 and we saw anywhere from 10,000-15,000 birds leaving the rice fields for the marsh.

Had my last teal hint this morning, another goose egg.
Someone was set up not too far from us, and they started shooting dragon flies or something, got bored, started walking around and shooting.
We had a few birds zip by, but to do all the shooting, did t want a second look at our spread.
And just not many birds at all in my area.
But still had a good time hanging out with some friends staring at the sky.

Here's to hoping duck season is better.

Hunted my last hunt of this years teal season today.

Other than getting my first band of the season it stunk.

Very few birds. We only killed 3 birds.

Good luck to everyone this AM.

Looks like crystal clear skyís again so I hope itís the same game plan as the last few days were where itís heavy the first 15-20mins catching them leaving the rice to roost and then we catch some stragglers coming in later.

Pulled the boat out this weekend. Started up the long tail. Welding some reinforced plate to the bow this year. I run an alumnacraft, which if fine for most of the places I hunt. The blind looks in good order but some of my boxes of shells suffered from moisture last year. I'm going to clean them up and see if they shoot. Planning on adding another dozen decoys and maybe a second sled. Reworking my front lights as well.

Had a few good teal hunts before it closed. Went solo Friday and bird numbers were really good finished my 6 pretty quick. Got to take my 13yr old nephew with me saturday morning and it was a repeat , plenty of birds some of them to close! Cant wait to get him out there again during big duck. We were able to make 7 teal hunts only two trips didnt recieve limits. Pretty good start to the season so far for public hunting.

Was only able to make it out for 3 hunts for Teal this year but was able to shoot 3 man limits each time. Birds were flying when we were out, just sucks we can't get after it again for more than a month. Got some pictures of the hardest working member of our hunt group to tide me over til then.

As we wait for big duck season to start. Does anyone have any cool hunts planned this year?

Anyone hunt the PNW? I'm thinking of headed to Washington state for 22/23 season for sea ducks.

I am missing opening weekend in Texas to hunt ducks in Colorado. Hunting ducks in the snow with the Rockies in the background has become a yearly thing for me. Its amazing. Lots of Mallards and Widgeon.

Man! Looks like some of y'all did pretty good on teal!

I am starting to knock on doors, call old friends, and ask for favors haha. Chances look slimmer every day that I find a boat motor by big duck season. Hoping I can find a few tanks to hunt and get lucky.

What kind of motor are you looking for?

We smashed teal this year, think the club averaged 5 birds/man/hunt for teal season. Some hunts were slower than others but all in all a great season. I canít wait for big duck.

60-115hp 2 stroke and cheap on a full time single dad of 3/school teacher budget.

Curious what everyone is using for temp blinds? Iíve done the hog panel with fast grass, a frame porta blinds, and on the coast just natural brush. Never used anything like the momarsh yet except full layouts for geese. It got me thinking how others may do it?

Wouldnít mind swapping a duck hunting trip on private ground for some guided crappie fishing if somebody is interested. Idk that I would have time to do it but we will be in Oklahoma some and planning on doing a kick and shoot pheasant hunt somewhere with little man but love duck hunting just not going to do the 2am public route. Those days are over!! Shoot me a PM and we can see if we can work something out.

Portable a frames are hard to beat. I built my own out of lightweight 1” square tubing, welded wire fence and then wove bungee through the fence to hold on cover. Put a good base of Johnson grass or salt grass on it and then add a little natural cover where you use it.

The momarsh invisiman is awesome if your looking for a low profile blind. I also have the tangle free solo 360 that works great.

John Paul has a good idea for making your own. I bet you could easily use 3/4" pvc pipe to do something similar.

PVC wonít hold up. If you are going to build your own I would suggest conduit at minimum.
