Well boys and girls it’s time for another episode of “What Happened Here?” In case you’re a newbie, this is video evidence Of a shot sequence in which a pig gets poked with a pointy stick. Or does he??
![]() The point of this is to see what you think happens in this particular instance so as to learn as this may happen to you. Be it deer, pig, moose, bear etc…even video can play tricks on your eyes. Angles come into play. Anatomy of the particular animal and so forth. But mainly, is this a dead animal? How far did it make it before expiring? Did it expire at all? Good blood trail? Poor blood trail? What vitals were hit(if any)? Is it Still running around and will be back? And so forth and so on… So…what happened here in this particular video??? This one may or may not be tricky!! Rig: Mathews V3X - 33, Easton Injexion 446 gr. W/ Gravedigger Hybrid. And go!! https://youtu.be/HK15WFruwv0 |

High hit, angled down steeply, exit in or front of off shoulder, both lungs, full penetration, but arra stuck in the ground before exiting. That was an expensive shot since he broke the arra... Good blood and short track. Hog didn't just squat, he went fully down, got up and left hurting!
IMHO of course... Looks like a good shot Jeff. |

Looks like a low(ish) hit but a kill. Bottom of the vitals, good blood trail, dead pig in under 70 yards.

He rolled hard on the shot, but the elevated angle was to your benefit. Smashed both lungs and heart. Arrow is shattered. Massive blood trail. Dead piggie within 30 yards.

Jeff, thanks for the hint... reviewed it again at .25 speed... Not only is the arra dragging and hit the bush, but follow him along as he runs off... it's slapping the grass as far as the video runs... I am now not sure on the hit... slowing it down so slow it is apparent that the arra did hit him and hit him hard, but the lighted nock disappears mighty forward in the last frame it is visible... like maybe mid neck (1/2 way between skull and shoulder... Elevation looks to be lower 1/3... should still hit all kinds of vessels with that broadhead in that area, and since it obviously remained in the hog, it should have been dicing and slicing with every swipe of it hitting the ground/bushes as he ran off... don't see how it would not have been quickly fatal... ?? Still, don't know... You need to paint your arras white since you're shootin' dark colored hogs!!

I think dead pig. Entry looked good but he was ducking and turning when it hit. Maybe forward on the exit. And, the branch moves when he took off so he had some arrow hanging out of him on the entry side. Maybe stuck in opposite shoulder???

I am only about 50/50 on these things but they are fun exercises. I don't think you found that pig. Hit too high because he jumped so much. Especially after the hint you gave.

Thanks for the hint.
I'm changing my guess. I think it hit him in one of the large bones in the leg. Stuck in him for a short while, long enough to disturb that brush on his way out, and he's alive. Not a fatal shot and now he walks with a limp. |

I am batting 0 this season but will step up to the plate one more time. After watching several times and even digesting the hint that you have given us I am going to say that he is hanging out with Big Nappy and they’re comparing scars.

These fellas here are correct! Specifically those that said sore and he will be back. He has been and seems no worse for the wear. It took two days for me to see him again. I will hunt him tonight. Here is what I know. The shot was forward and got about 6" of penetration. After he ran by that initial little bush, he ran by a larger tree. That's where I heard the arrow snap. I found the arrow there on the ground and with a small amount of blood on the broken shaft. The only blood I found is in the photo below. Otherwise...not a drop I think he rolled left and my arrow hit leg and came out in front of the same leg. Hopefully I'll get him tonite and we can check for sure. Honestly, after I felt the arrow leave the bow and saw the hit...I literally said to myself "smoked!" WRONG!!! Here's the broken arrow tree and THE ONLY blood I found. ![]() Last edited by Fishndude; 06-22-2022 at 04:22 PM. |

Maybe next time Jeffy.
![]() As to my work week, I's think-n it starts on Saturday. And I feel kinda fortunate cause they normally give me the first two days off, Sat and Sunday. But sometimes gotta work-em. Does that sound logical? ![]() But I'ma guess-n some people only have a 5 day week with no Sat and Sunday. Cause they have a Wednesday hump day. Makes me wonder why I was given 2 extra days in the week. Or what happened to their other two dyas? Guess I'll figure it out someday. SMH ![]() The fish are biting and there's hogs to be kill-t. Gotta go! Last edited by Texas Grown; 06-23-2022 at 06:26 AM. |
