Mammoth ivory bow grips

I made these to replace the original wood grips for my new(used) Elite bow. This is mammoth ivory from Siberia.

Looks awesome!! I wouldn’t trust that thin lip for holding those things in place. I would put a small drop of hot glue in a couple small dots behind the grip just in case that lip breaks.

They are backed by 1/8” thick g10 so the lip is all g10 and they are rock solid. The ivory part is actually thinner than the g10. And all epoxied together with high quality slow cure epoxy.

When I saw your thread title, the first thing that popped into my head was "That would be a cool idea for my two Elite Judges" . Looks like you had that idea already. Nicely done sir!


I might still look into this with Chops to see if he has any blue colored mammoth tooth.

I went back and forth between mammoth tooth and mammoth ivory but I had a big chunk of ivory sitting here that have been wanting to use so I went with that. But I may do another set out of mammoth tooth just for fun.

Closeup pic of grips is awesome, a beautiful color and pattern. Got to be good karma in those grips made of that ancient ivory. Nicely done.
