    Jug/noodle fishing?

What depth and baits do you like to fish best?

    #2
I mainly fish shallower rivers, I leave 4-6’ below the noodle and the best bait there ever was for catfish is shad.

There’s a catfish thread you might ask on, also some rule changes posted over there as far as noodles in case you haven’t seen them yet.

Chicken gizzards, hot dogs, chicken hearts all soaked in cherry koolaid and minced garlic. Fresh shad when available. When their biting they will hit most anything.

Try shrimp in 8-12 foot of water. I use circle hooks and stage 2 hooks at about 3 and 7 foot with small weight at the end.

                Live perch works too.

If you want to catch blues then use fresh shad or cut perch. You aint gonna catch many blues if any on shrimp and hot dogs. If you want flat heads use live bait like perch and gold fish. If you want to catch channels then use chicken livers, shrimp, ect

Just use a telephone and save yourself the guessing !
If they float up fast then they are shallow.
If it takes a little bit then they are deep.
                      And no messy bait needed.

I'll start chasing Flatheads in 2 weeks using live bluegill. Creek channels leading into main lake in 12ft of water. Lines range from 5-10ft deep. I prefer the big hole shell crackers that are as big as your hand. When I run them at night I stick the chem light (glow in dark) necklaces in the end. Horizontal = normal vertical = fish on. Easy way to drink beer and fish!

Or baited with small bass or white perch.
