I finally got an afternoon out testing my google scouting skills. 2 were a bust, couldn’t get to a couple due to an unexpected pipe gate but2 have potential plus another spot I found. Was checked by a warden and scoped out by a local on my first stop. Looking forward to sleeping in a tree, learning the forest and the pics y’all share. I’ll be out mid week, aim small.
Old guys are just hanging out. It's been years since I drew a doe permit and I was selected this year so I will be out there some. I bought some acreage a couple years ago and have been building a cabin. I'm almost done so I can do more hunting in the Sam. I will post up pics after I get it finished. I'm not hunting until a little cooler weather gets here.

Congrats on the hideaway build. The woods have been brutal especially with the added rain. Walk a mile in the brush and you'll be drenched. Conversely, the skeeters haven't been too bad, and neither have the ticks. (surely just jinxed that one)
Looks like it's going to rain this first weekend - what are y'alls thoughts on hunting out of a tree stand in the rain? Or, do you prefer ground blinds for safetly (i.e. lightning)?
Not worried too much about rain although if I know it’s going to be heavy for a while I’ll try to sit it out or sit in a popup. If there’s lightning I don’t hunt or get out of it. I’ve been too close to a tree getting hit before.
