I have been hunting this deer for 3 years. He would use a protein feeder at night but was never seen by a hunter until this year. I tried ever trick in the books the last couple of years trying to find him during daylight with no luck.
I had a few pics of him during velvet at a different part of the ranch and I thought this was my chance. I set up on trails etc but still no luck. Them my niece and nephew saw him chasing a doe back in his original area. I set up on a food plot and prayed. Then it happened. He came running out after a doe and was headed my way. I drew when he was about 30 out but he never slowed down and went right by my set up without giving me a shot. I had to go back to work and was heart broken. The next weekend I was right back in the same spot and lightening struck again. He was back out in the same plot chasing a doe and fending off 4 other bucks. It was a rodeo. I drew on him twice without getting a shot despite him being within 15 yards on several occasions. Then he was pushing one of the bucks off and got a little too close. The rage hit its mark and I watched him pile up at 75 yards.
8 year old, 220 pound live weight, 184 6/8”.
