The recoil system looks to be more of a standard semi auto shotgun like a Remington instead of an AR style gas impingement system. The stock is more AR than anything, but the adjustable comb is a nice touch.

I haven't shot the Citadel but the recoil on both of these is similar to any 12 ga semi-auto. One shot at a time not bad at all but full mag dumps will walk you back a little, so get low and hang on.
