Running a gun vs Just shooting it.

Maybe I'm old but I've always just shot my guns.

I hear people talk about "I run this on my gun" or "I run that kind of gun".

I run a chainsaw, I run my boat, I even run a weed eater when the dang thing will start. Is this the "in-crowd" lingo? Is it the new politically correct way of saying it, like calling a clip a magazine?

Just asking, mainly because I'm board and have no place to hunt this weekend.

I think it’s the “tacti-cool” way to say it. I’d imagine most are “running” an AR or a pistol and “shooting” a deer rifle.

I run my mouth mostly, never ran a gun before.

I think it came out of the 3-gun and action pistol competitive shooting world, where you will do a "run" down a shooting lane, often times including actual running from point to point. That morphed into "running" a certain gun or accessory on your gun.

I think Rinella said something about the origin of the phrase. You can "run" all kinds of high end gear. Guns, backpacks, binos, boots, etc.

All my gear is cheap so I guess I can't "run" it.

So magazine is a PC word for clip now?

I thought magazine was the correct wording and clip was slang....this is a clip no?.
