Ive got a pile of hogs that are hitting my feeder every night just after dark. Could I set up some of these solar lights in the trees up above the feeder and expect them to keep coming? Any other low cost suggestions?

That’s the issue I’ve had with gun or bow mounted lights. The hogs come into the feeder and I turn on the light and they don’t like that and run off... or move just enough to get out of the light.
One of the guys from Sniper lights mentioned using always-on LED spotlights from a short distance away. I’m trying a kill light from Elusive mounted to the bottom of my feeder, to see how it works. It’s always on at night at a dim setting and when motion is detected it brightens slowly. Installed it a couple weeks back so will see what impact it’s had soon, I hope.

A light on your gun or bow is the best option though.

it depends on the hogs too..ive used the solar lights to good effect but when i moved my feeder to a more open spot the motion activated ones scared off the new hogs..i have a killight light that mounts on bottom of feeder it glows green when it gets dark ,works awesome but will eat batteries..have used bow and or gun lights to great effect...ya gotta keep trying and see what works for the hogs ..they will all work for you....good luck

I've had the same issues scaring off pigs with bow/gun lights. I've even tried shining it way up high and slowly lowering it and they get scared. If you just have a $9 solar spotlight on the feeder leg it will keep them from getting spooked when you turn your light on.
I have less issues when I am beyond 75 yards or so rifle hunting.

I bought several Mr Beams motion sensing outdoor lights on a...zon in 3 packs for less than $20 per light, I got some green photo film and put inside the lights. I have them set out in several places that I can see from the porch. I also got a Predator Orion green led light with the scope and barrel mounts.
I have had the out for months now on the first batteries and in the storms and they work good.
I can set on the porch at night. If one of the lights comes on I then turn on the flashlight on the rifle and bring it down from above on them.
All of the lights are within 150 yards of the porch and the flashlight works good with a scoped rifle. I paid a little over $100 for the flashlight, clamps, battery and charger. I have seen a lot cheaper flashlights that are as strong with white light, but not with green led light.
Look on u tube for instructions on how to put the green film in.

That is what I use---as a gun or bow mounted light seemed to spook them whenever I moved the light to shoot. Here's a pic of how I rig mine. Just make sure they point away from you and I find it better if they are between me and the feeder so shadows aren't as confusing. Hogs may stay away for a week, but they'll be back---appetite always trumps caution in my experience.
Found this at HD and bought one--works great and when my others die off, will replace them with this model.
