    Double vision? Scary

Woke up Wednesday with double vision. I can close each eye and vision is clear. Lasted about 20 to 30 min and mainly cleared up. Has happened each morning since. Have an eye appt for Monday.

Google doesn't tell me much....my allergies are flaring up a bit but nothing major. Had lasik in 2014 and have had 20 20 vision since.

Happened to me twice a couple years ago. Fine every since. Mine was in the eye muscles cause I could tilt my head and the images came together.

I have lived with it the last three years or so. Had to close one eye to read road signs. I wasn't really seeing completely double but there was a shadow superimposed on everything I saw. Optometrist put prisms in my glasses which partially corrected it, but a few months ago it started getting worse so I went to the best retina guy in Tyler and he did some surgery on my right eye. That was early May and my vision got steadily better up until a week or two ago, then seemed to reverse itself a little. I'm not wearing glasses except to read on his advice. He wants me to wait until my next visit (August), says I'll get a better read on the refraction. Meanwhile, it's very hard to shoot anything without a scope except a shotgun. Your eyes are precious, good luck to you.

Yes. If I look down it is way worse. Look up and straight it is much better. But first minutes awake and it is the whole field of vision.

Maybe tilt wasnt the right word. Cocked my head a little sideways.

Back when I was around 19 I was in a pool playing volleyball and took a finger in an eye. I swear it went to my he guys elbow!!! The guy said he thought it went to his second knuckle!! Did not think anyone could have that much pain and live.
I had double vision for over a week and had to wear a patch. Doctor said it was due to the muscle swelling due to the trauma.

Happened to me when I had to much caffeine. Hope it gets better.

Happened to me year before last. They called it 6th nerve syndrome. Eye specialist said everything but stroke ( he refused to call it a stroke, but it is something like a stroke) , causing that nerve in my right eye to lose control a bit. Prisms wouldn't fix it. I had to wear a patch to keep from getting nauseated. Didn't drive for a month til it corrected on its own. Thought I was over it, started driving away from my house where it was a road with just a centerline, did ok. Turned onto a 6 lane divided road, had to put a hand over my right eye, and go right back home. It ran crossed for about a month, and one day it started getting better, in about a week it was like it never happened.

Weirdest thing in the world, I was watching tv, and all of a sudden I had double images. I could read for a couple of days until it got so bad I had to have a patch, or hold one eye closed. I was doing physical therapy for a broken femur, and I got more info from my physical therapist, until I went to the specialist. Hope it never happens again.

Are you having any back issues? The reason I ask is I'm seeing a neurologist about back issues and that was one of his questions, could be nerve issues.

Gotcha. Strange. Lean my head to the right and it gets worse. Lean head to the left and near perfect vision.

                            Cataracts can cause persistent double-vision.
