Plumbing Fitting Help

[175gr7.62]

I’m installing a shower in my grandpa’s house that was built in the mid 60’s. Can anyone tell me what this fitting is called? 1/2” NPT threads right on the collar but it has a tapered stem that seats on the other side.

Looks like you take a tubing cutter to that pipe and use whatever fitting you want!

Sorry, guessing that’s an old compression fitting.

Those are usually used for gas lines.

Half of a union that probably matched up to a tub valve. Unscrew it from the male adapter and go from there.

Yep. I didn’t realize at first it was threaded onto a 1/2” male fitting. I got them off and headed to get PEx fitting. I was one short.
