We’re hoping our boss will this year, but was told to not expect one. Sure would be nice though. She can certainly afford it.

I work for a rather large corporation, and we’re not allowed to give gifts and most definitely DO NOT get a Christmas bonus.

Employee appreciation happens around thanksgiving. Think it was $60 per year of employment before taxes. And a ribeye steak dinner. A ribeye for the 4th too. 14 paid holidays and 80hrs annual time plus sick leaves. Can't complain here. But no actual Christmas bonus

The part that bothers me most about giving Christmas bonus’ to the employees is that it is never enough. Most gripe for what they get and very few are grateful for what they get. At least in the industry that I work in.

I used to work for a Company that gave an employee wide Christmas bonus. One year, it was $1,000 per employee, other years it was $500-750.

Definitely very generous on behalf of the owners.

With that said, there were negatives as well. Some employees began to "expect" it as compared to understanding that it truly was just a discretionary benefit. Some always complained about the amount. The other thing that used to rub me the wrong way is some employees liked to complain about merit increases and base salaries, yet always seemed to conveniently forget about the Christmas bonus received.

If I owned a Company, I probably wouldn't do it. I'd rather base bonuses/incentives off of work milestones, accomplishments, goals, etc.

I just bought the 4 sergeants that work for me gift cards to Spec's Liquors.

And when I got assigned to this job I gave up my parking spot to the Homicide Unit employee of the month. Other than that... Government jobs suck for bonuses.

When I worked at city hall we would get a Christmas party with gifts and a $25 gift card. At a family owned John Deere store I worked at our Christmas bonus was whatever our biggest pay check of the year they would match it and a party. In Wind Energy bonuses are a usually given around March and it could be substantial depending on position. Anywhere from $500-$20000+.

I am a Ranch Manager for 2 places. 1 full time and the other 7-10 hrs a week. Full Time ranch I receive random bonuses throughout the year and recently a Kubota SxS X1140. I just received my Christmas bonus and it was over a months worth of pay. I make a good chunk and couldn’t be more blessed for the opportunity next door to my property. The part time gig is just as good if not the same. Random generosity from both owners! Gift I received from him was a Lifetime Super Combo and the buck in my avatar. Something I will use the rest of my life and always think of him.

All I know is I hope to one day be as selfless as these 2 individuals and help out anyone and everyone that I can. I enjoy what I do and thankful I don’t have to deal with big city traffic headaches.

We generally get them. Never know until there's an extra paycheck deposited 12/20.

This year those of us that survived 2 rounds of lay offs have probably already gotten our bonus

My favorite one to ever get was $10 before taxes, believe it was $6.54 net. Cashed that joker and went straight to Wendy's for a spicy chicken sandwich meal. I think I had to add a little of my own money to cover the total but I appreciated it.

Nope. It's a large global company, and this year they cut back on the Christmas party/lunch they used to do as well. I appreciated it minus knowing I still have work that needs done. We do get our regular partial of the years bonus after this quarter though.

We have a target bonus that pays out in January every year. It’s not a “Christmas” or “holiday” bonus per say but the timing works out.
