What's going on here?

Is this a fluke? My wife asked me to pick up some Dr Peppers. I open a 12 pack of Diet DP, and it has the plastic ring holding all the cans together. They are already in a box! Is this some kind of screw up?

The box is designed to dispense the cans, but it won't work like that with them all attached

Nah--just someone having a good time with a pracitcal joke. Had a friend who wrked in a Del Monte cannery doing green beans, peas, etc. It was a summer job and his job was to grease/lube all the assembly line machinery. Just like when you used to wipe grease fittings after a service, he stuffed his greasy rag into a can and sent it on down the line. You know someone was surprised when they opened their green beans and found that.

Dad worked in a cannery when he was in high school. Said the line boss would throw whatever label they had handy on when they ran out of the right ones.

I think he still won't buy that brand of canned stuff


Probably in this situation they ran out of loose cans to fill an order of 12pks and just grabbed a flat of the ones like they sell with the rings and the person was too lazy or in a hurry to go and didn't separate the cans
