    Hunting Clothes Question

So I'm going through my hunting clothes, and believe that I have too much.

What is a good all around amount of clothes? I understand I need to cover all variations of weather, but how many? Is there a great layering system? Just trying to simplify.

    Thanks for the input!

I latyer a lite long sleeve shirt, with t- shirt, with 1/4 zip pull over, with my heavy duty carhart jacket on very cold days.

Jeans with insulated pants over them.

Wool socks and insulated/ waterproof boots.

Warm weather......... usually jeans, t- shirt, and regular boots. Hope this helps.

Base layer of light weight merino wool
      Insulation layer - puffy jacket
      Outer layer - wind blocking
      Rain gear in the backpack.

        Kuiu, Sitka or First Lite?

I personally use First Lite. I don’t have a ton of it, but I don’t need a ton of it.

          Warm weather/Early season:
Obsidian Merino Pants and Wick LS Crew

          Cool weather:
Catalyst Soft Shell Pants and Jacket

          Cold weather:
          Solitude Bibs and Jacket

Layering options to mix and match:
          Sawtooth Hybrid Vest
          Kiln Quarter Zip
          Furnace Quarter Zip and Bottoms

All of that will cover temps that range from teens to 100 degrees

You’re looking at it all wrong. You don’t need fewer clothes, you just need a bigger closet.

Depends on where and how you are hunting.
I keep a quiver for situations from glassing in Idaho to October hunt in Texas.
I have never had enough clothes to hunt from a tree in Iowa.

If you’re looking for brand specific I have a ton of each from First Lite, Kuiu and Sitka

For base layers, First Lite is the best merino, followed closely by Sitka and then Kuiu is pretty far behind. The Kuiu merino stuff is itchy and rough. Top of the list would be First Lite Wick Quarter Zip

For an insulation piece, Kuiu Kenai puffy is awesome. Lightweight and warm.

For an out layer wind blocking jacket for stationary hunting the Sitka Stratus is great. If you are moving around a lot and weight is a concern the Kuiu Katana is great.

Best pants I own by a long shot are the Kuiu Attacks.

I’d say if you mostly stationary hunt to go in the Sitka whitetail line on their website and you’ll be off to a great start.

Better be 6'2 and above for Kuiu pants. I'm 5'7, 32 waist and the knees were at my ankles.
They only make one inseam size and they can't be tailored. Sent them back and went First Lite- great choice!

One can never have too many hunting clothes. Or guns. Or bows. Or fishing rods.

I’m 5’11 and the length is just fine.
