Current mountain rifle is in 7mm-08.

    backup is a 6.5 prc
been thinking of reducing recoil considered 6mm cm or fast twist .243 before ordering a Sako S20 in 6.5 cm. For now the 7mm-08 is still my goto.

      Right now it’s a .270 Winchester.

A .300 is awesome elk medicine for sure and I carried my 9 lbs win m70 for 35 years
These days I will pack a 6.5-284 , or other milder recoil rifle, “ I am not a fan of cans or muzzle breaks “
        Any 6.5 - .270 , 280 is bueno for western states

30.06. If you can make longer shots 300 win or similar.

My choice is what I have used for elk and mule deer for years, 280 Rem.

For me, a 30 cal magnum of choice.

It would be a wm if I didn't reload. I reload and run a 30 nosler.

I use a 300 win mag a lot.. for deer and hogs… It would be good for muleys and elk…

My McWhorter 7 sprc is what I chose. I will be using for everything in NA with the exception of my moose/brown bear trip.

If shooting factory ammo, the .300 win is probably the most logical choice.

7mag or 300 win mag. Can get ammo for it fairly easily in comparison to anything else out there.

I've got a 7 mag I'm thinking of rebarreling to a 20" 6.5PRC, but have a6.5x284 already which is basically the same but just lighter gun overall. I'm a sissy now and don't like the 7 mags and up. I shot my bull elk last year at 640yds with 6.5x284 and watched the vapor trail all the way to impact. No way I could have done that with larger caliber.

Sure hard to go against a 300 Win Mag as many have said. Just tons of options for ammo and rifles if you aren't going custom. Everyone chambers their rifles in 300WM.

Whichever one tickles your fancy. I've got an 06, dad has a 300wsm, and a buddy has a .270. They've all done the job out west.

                              I'd take my .243 in a heartbeat.

                                I think I am down to 7mm or 300

Hell, maybe I'll follow t8's plan and get both

                                Appreciate the info
