I gotta brag about my little girl Miranda, she got her first deer Saturday afternoon!! I had planned to go bow hunting at my dad’s place this past weekend but remember that it was youth weekend so my bow went back in the closet and it Miranda that was gonna be the hunter this weekend! Last year Miranda was with me in the stand when I got my biggest buck ever, that was cool but it had nothing on this hunt! It could not have been more perfect, her mother and I were both in the stand with her to be a part of this experience! Around 5:20pm on Saturday evening while I was trying to take a nap in the deer stand my wife spotted a doe that had stepped out about 80 yds away, I don’t mind being woke up for that! Miranda had shot at a couple deer last year for the first time and had a couple near misses but she stuck with it and was determined to get a deer and this was the one, I just knew it! I put the 243 that her pawpaw bought her on the window sill and handed it over to her and told her to take the shot when she’s ready! It didn’t take long, she pulled the trigger and I saw the front of the doe hit the ground before it took off in the brush!! After the shot she looked at me and screamed “ WE DID IT!!!!” It was by far the best hunt of my life and I don’t see it ever being topped!! We found the doe about 20yds away, I have never been prouder and she was ecstatic!! I’m so happy that mama was there to share it with us!! My wife has killed a couple deer before Miranda was born but I think this might of jump started her interest in hunting again also!! It’s gonna be a busy season!!
