Default Semi-Live Montana Hunt

I booked this hunt last year, and now it's finally close.

We leave tomorrow morning for Montana to mule deer hunt.
I have never been to Montana and have never hunted mule deer, so it will all be new to me.

We fly into Great Falls and will be hunting in and around Big Sandy. Hunting with Montana Outfitting Company. Rifle hunt. looks like the weather will be mild. Lows in the 30's, highs in the 50's.

When time permits, I'll try and update this post.

Took the Alamo Precision 7 Mag to the range for one last tuneup.

200 yards, 3 shot group was less than 2 inches.
I’m ready to go.

Yes sir! Have a great hunt!

The snow we got this week here in the mountains really got the elk moving. A group of friends were in the mountains here this past week. Prior to the snow they did not even see an elk.
After the snows came they ended up taking 6 bulls.

If you are fortunate to get a deer what are your plans for the meat and horns. I’m going to Nebraska in two weeks

They recommend donating it to the local food bank. You can take it somewhere and ship it home, but Iím sure itís expensive.

Cheapest and easiest way is just flying home with it on the plane.

Good luck! Warning mule deer hunting can become addicting haha

I fly out tonight for CO to hunt an area I've spent a decent amount of time in but first time hunting it this late.

Good Luck to you! I tagged a 12 point Whitetail in Montana near Livingston, MT a few years ago. Had the meat processed and shipped home and had a Shoulder Mount done there and shipped home to Texas.

Day 1 in the books.

We drove around all day. Hunted an 11,000 acre ranch.

Tons of does and yearlings. We probably saw 200. Only saw 10 bucks.

I ended up shooting a 4x3 that I now wish I had not shot. The guide talked me into it, but it was the 2nd biggest buck we saw all day. It was my decision and I’ll own it.
Saw some beautiful country and had a blast.

Might try and do some bird hunting or prairie dog hunting. We saw a lot of sharp tail grouse and Hungarian partridge and some pheasants too.

I’ll post pics
