Thumbs up Grizzly Unit 23 - Alaska Bound!!!
Wheels up to Fairbanks tomorrow at 7:04 am. After a 3 year waiting list I am finally doing this INLAND GRIZZLY bowhunt with Denali Hunts. They ONLY take bowhunters thus the long dang wait. We will be bowhunting about 4 hours by SuperCub NW of Fairbanks on the Kobuk River. Hopefully the salmon are in the river ..........as they had not arrived last Saturday when they set up the camp. Night temps are about 35 degrees and day time temperatures are 60ish.......bring it on!!! Shot distances are from 10 yards to 30 yards on the bears. I am the 1st bowhunter of the year and will be solo with Carl the guide. Carl killed the largest INLAND Grizz as a trad bowhunter out of this camp a few years ago. It was approximately 8.5 feet.......wowzer.......that is pushing Brown Bear credentials. Also, 1 out of 3 bowhunters get a shot opportunity on WOLF.........yes, i am buying that $60 wolf tag. I am setup solidly to 40 yards for wolf and probably smack one at 50 yards if the opportunity presents itself. Every bowhunter has a shot opportunity on grizzly......some pass, some miss but the opportunity is there!!! I will also get a fishing license as the Sheefish (tarpon of the north) are rampant on this river. 20 to 55 pound fish are common. I will have a sat phone and hopefully I can get someone to update this thread from time to time!
My SETUP:
70 lb Matthews Vertix
650 grain grizzly sticks (total arrow weight)
200 grain TUFFHEAD single bevels (Evolution)
240 feet per second may be slow for yall but it is all about pounding MOMENTEUM!!!

I think your will love the penetration on your arrow set up. My penetration with my Cape Buff set up even at 60#'s was really way past my expectations.
