Weird rattlesnake

Killed the weirdest snake around lunch today. I saw it under some grating by the porch at our camp kitchen and poked it with the shovel and it didn’t move. Looked kind of desiccated and sounded super dried out when I scraped it with the shovel. Moved it out with and it was alive! It could barely move. Anyone ever see one like this? Was it the cold or sick?

Cold snakes do move really slow but I'm not sure about his looks.

No clouds, not about to shed. Obviously a diamondback. It was more like it had lost a lot of weight. Skin and bones was an apt description

He was dehydrated and sick as can be. Wouldn't have made it through the Winter.
