I go way back to the days of those little 10 cents bottles of Coke sitting in a barber shop reading his fishing articles.

Hard to imagine the sport of Bass fishing being anything like it is without his vision and influence.

I think he should be credited with single handedly saving our fisheries. RIP

I don't know about saving them...
But he sure brought it to the for front..

Can you imagine, the lake he's fishing right now....

Had the opportunity to get to know him a little bit over the years. Even spent two days and nights fishing with him at his famed ranch. Great guy. Definitely sold himself as well as anyone ever did, but was also self deprecating and knew he was full of himself so it didn’t come across as arrogance. Still carry the lucky coin he gave me (he gave one to everyone he met!) in my truck. Legend for sure.

                              10 pounders on every cast.

Imagine if he would have never started promoting catch and release.

No way lakes could have sustained the fishing pressure without that.

Heck boats didn't even have live wells in them back then.
