Best route from Boerne to college station

Yesterday I drove my wife to a appointment in CS , and my phone routed us
473 to San Marcos
SM to bastrop on 21
Bastrop to CS

This was very slow and confusing/ congested with construction

Return the phone took us
Hwy 6 to hempseed
Hempstead to Belleville
Belleville to sealy
Sealy to San Antonio

It’s a very long trip, following phone directions

There has to be a better route?

Traveling to the Brazos Valley from that part of the world is such a nightmare.
I think Highway 21 is one of the most dangerous roads I have traveled on. Two lanes most of the way, constant construction, and a gas station/crossroads every four miles with drivers constantly pulling out into fast moving traffic.

It may be a hair longer time wise but it would be the route I take.
Take 10 all the way to Flatonia then take 609 north to La Grange then 77 up to Giddings. Then get on 21 for the remainder of the way through Caldwell.

Unfortunately, there really isn’t a good alternative that is quicker than going down 21.

Yes , a very stressful trip
In bastrop a guy pulling a trailer full of fish hit a cement barrier and dumped 1/2 the fish out and never even stopped
And on 21 , wide load trailers where forcing people to drive on wrong side of the highway

Avoid 35 from SA to Austin. San Marcos is a terrible stretch right now.

How is traffic on I10 to Luling? Not far past Luling on I10 is 304 which goes over to Bastrop and take 21 into B-CS.

or

From Boerne, go 46 to Luling, jump on I10 for a minute to Toll 130 then to Lockhart. 20 out of Lockhart 71 and into Bastrop. 21 to B-CS.


I'm headed to Junction from Bryan on Sunday but the way I go won't really help you as I travel further north than you need to go. I have used the route to Lockhart before. I have no trouble with 21 pulling our RV.

Try living in the town. They keep cutting our roads down to make bike lanes that no one uses

My son went to college in San Marcos, and I don’t recall a 473 near San Marcos. Maybe that’s where you went wrong.

Don't take the Van Wycke

Only take the pappy van winkle if driving 21

Get on the toll road and go north. Exit at Hutto and stay on 79 til Hearne. Take 6 into College Station.
