Losing vision in my right eye

So I noticed one night, when I was using my phone, that there was a yellow "blob" on the screen of my phone. As moved my eyes around the screen the "blob" would follow where ever I was looking on the screen. I closed my right eye and kept the left eye open it disappeared, but when I opened my right eye and closed my left I would see it. I thought I might have looked at a bright light when I walked around the house and the "after image" was still in my vision.

Over the next couple of days I noticed the "image" was still there in the center of my vision in my right eye. After a couple weeks the yellow blob turned into a shadow in my line of sight (right eye only). It was then that I started to get worried. I could no longer pinpoint crosshairs in my scope or the pins when I was looking through the peep on my bow. Especially in low light conditions.

As a hunter my eyes are necessary! I started thinking if I was going to have to start learning to use my other eye and shoot left handed.

Well I went the eye doctor yesterday, and was diagnosed with Central Serous Retinopathy. I was given a prescription of two different eye drops. So we'll see how it goes.

If you guys can send some prayers up for a fellow hunter I would really appreciate it. Thanks

      Praying for you!

While not the same problem I’ve had serious issues in both my eyes the last 3-4 yrs. I can sympathize and wish you the best.

I’ve had CSR off and on for 10 years in my right eye too. Mine comes and goes maybe 1-2 times a year. Usually it is when I’m really stressed about something, or not getting enough sleep. I’ve learned to live with it and it usually goes away within 2-3 weeks. My vision is not as good in my right eye, but I’m still about to shoot a bow and see the cross hairs in a scope.

I forgot to mention the eye doctor said that it's stress related. I'll be honest, I'm having a hard time believing that, but I have faith that his treatment will work... thanks for sharing. It brings some comfort knowing I should still be able to hunt effectively.

Yeah it can be frustrating when it comes on. I’ve studied on it, and too much caffeine can trigger it too, or make it linger longer. So I usually try to cut way back on caffeine when it comes on.

I hope it clears up soon bud, I’ve never had great vision. I’m suppose to wear glasses but I rarely have them on, I also have these floaters that appear in my like of sight then disappear. Doctor said Im in the early stages of cataracts...

The pattern you describe sounds suspiciously similar to migraine activity. Just curious, is there a history of migraines in your family? Or seizures...epileptic, febrile, childhood, or other idiopathic cause?

I ask, not just out of my own curiosity, but because I wonder whether or not migraine meds (or other CNS meds like anti-seizure medication) might be indicated here and, if so, whether you and/or OP might benefit from seeing a neurologist who specializes in disorders of the somatosensory cortex.

                        Just thinking out loud.

I went to the eye doctor on April 1st got sent to a glaucoma specialist April 2nd and had drain tubes put in my right eye. My pressure was 78 vision was gone. I’m going to a Retnia specialist Tuesday to have laser treatment to burn off extra veins and start inflection treatment.
